Blow an Afternoon on Art!

Here's a new take on an old favorite--blowing bubbles! The participants will need to wear their bathing suits or clothes that can handle a bit of food coloring.
What you'll need to start :
- One bottle of bubble mixture with a bubble wand for each person
- 20-30 drops of food coloring in each bottle of bubbles (a different color in each bottle!)
- A clothesline strung between trees at shoulder height of the shortest artist.
- Large sheets of paper taped from the line--like clothes hanging from it.

The idea is to blow colored bubbles onto the papers. Each kid contributes his or her color to the splattery "masterpieces." The results can be dried and used for wrapping paper, journal covers, stationary and other fun uses!
Variations:
Tape up white paper bags instead of sheets to make party favor bags or try using white t-shirts to make wearable artwork!
We'd love to see your bubblicious creations! Send them to: editors@spiritliving.org.

The heat of Summer is finally here! Looking for a cool way to have fun? How about this wet and wild game? This can be a blast for a bunch of older kids or even a summer party game for adults, too! - Editors.
The Frosty Feet, Icebreaker Game!
This is a silly, giggly game that's just right for a hot, July day!
What you'll need to start the game:
- A kid's wading pool (the plastic kind that's about a foot deep)
- Water (to fill the pool)
- Ice cubes
- Unbreakable bowls (one for each player) • Prizes! (stickers, water pistols or other party game trinkets)
- One person to act as a time keeper
How To Play:
Fill up the pool and dump in several trays of ice cubes. (If you use a bag, make sure it isn't a "block" of ice cubes!) Players then sit on the ground, around the edge of the wading pool with their feet poised over the water.
At the word "Go," players race to move the cubes out of the water and into their bowls within a designated time period. The trick is, they can only use their feet!
The winner is the person who has the most ice cubes in his bowl when the time is up.
Tip: Best to play this game in a bathing suit!
Variation: The night before, place a brightly colored trinket or strawberry in one compartment of the ice cube tray before filling. The person who gets that cube into their bowl wins a special prize.

Here is a new way to play an old favorite board game in the great outdoors!
Nature Checkers
What you'll need to play:
A Board:
This can be drawn in chalk on the driveway, scratched into the dirt with a stick, or drawn into the sand. The board is eight squares wide and eight squares long. Every other square is darker. This can be done with cross hatching, or if using chalk, the darker squares are colored in.
Checkers:
Each side needs 12 checkers that look different from the other side's. These can be 12 pine cones played against twelve rocks, or twelve jar lids played against 12 yogurt tops, or twelve shells played against twelve stones--be creative!
Play according to the regular rules of checkers. Here is a great site to remind you of the rules: http://www.ccgworkshop.com/wiki/index.php/Rules:Checkers
Variation: Have the players gather their own checkers!
